Art Workshop by EnVERT Foundation
Rupanjana De is by education a lawyer specializing in Corporate law, an economist and a Company Secretary and by profession an entrepreneur leading a diversified group of companies and firms. She was briefly a student of Fine Arts Academy, Silchar, Assam, affiliated to the Vishwa Bharati University but gave up taking formal training at the age of 16. After a hiatus of about 10 years, she started painting again. Thereafter, she continued to follow her passion during the minimum time she could afford to extract from busy corporate life.
Bitten by a travel bug, Rupanjana sets off often to see the world around and has travelled to 20 countries in 3 continents. Hence her paintings often reflect her love for travel and diverse cultures. She is especially interested in portraits and uses the two very rare mediums she identifies herself with most in her corporate life – pens and pencils. She is also an avid collector of ethnic dolls which also inspires her to have dolls for subject in many of her paintings. As a student of art Rupanjana had participated in a group exhibition of Fine Arts Academy, Silchar way back in 1991 and in another group exhibition at Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad, Kolkata in 2002 in which her ‘Ekti Meyer Katha’ was adjudged as the Best Exhibit.
Rupanjana De lives and works in Kolkata in West Bengal, India.
